Cruise ready to appear as Nazi in holiday film
Tom Cruise has been named to Details magazine’s power list, and in doing so, earned himself a platform to talk about his upcoming WWII-themed film “Valkyrie,” which opens on Christmas Day. By all accounts, though, Cruise seems undaunted by the prospect of appearing onscreen in Nazi uniform during the holiday season. “There’s always someone telling you not to make a movie,” he told Details. “When I did ‘Born on the Fourth of July,’ they said, ‘This is going to ruin your career. What are you doing?’ Suicide? I’ve committed it. There were people who didn’t want me to make ‘Top Gun.’” Cruise went on to say that he identified with his character in the film, Claus Von Stauffenberg, who attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Cruise told the magazine, “Stauffenberg went from saying, ‘Someone should shoot that bastard’ to realizing, I’m the only one who can do it.
