Kelompok ini memulai debutnya pada tanggal 10 Februari 2007 di program MBC Music Core, dengan menyanyikan lagu Irony, dan termasuk dalam mini album pertama nya, Wonder Begins. Album ini sukses menjual 11.454 eksemplar pada tahun 2007, memenangkan penghargaan untuk itu dan menjadi yang terbaik masuk Billorst Worls. Wonder Girls pada awal debutnya dikatakan sebagai versi wanita dari SS501 karena mereka mempunyai banyak bakat seperti halnya member SS501 dan ada juga yang mengatakan bahwa mereka adalah versi perempuan dari DBSK.

Pada bulan Februari 2008, Wonder Girls datang ke Amerika sebagai tamu khusus untuk bergabung dengan tur Bad Concert. Selama kunjungan ini Wonder Girls mengambil syuting video untuk single ketiga, Wishing on a Star. Kemudian pada bulan Mei 2008, kelompok ini mengunjungi Thailand, sebuah negara di mana mereka dinominasikan untuk penghargaan Seed Asian Artist of the Year dalam kategori Seed Popular Asian Artist of the Year. Selanjutnya pada tanggal 1 Juli 2009, Jonas Brothers mengundang mereka untuk menjadi group pembuka "Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009". Dan Wonder Girls tiba di kota Monterrey, Meksiko pada 31 Juli 2009.
